A Little Piece of Our Mountain Home
If you’ve ever wandered through the woods up here in Northern British Columbia, you’ve felt that fresh, earthy magic underfoot and the scent of pine, moss, and clean mountain air. That’s the essence we’re bottling up and sharing straight from Smithereens Farm. We grow and carefully dry our Lion’s Mane mushroom chunks right here in these rugged mountains, all because we fell in love with bringing that wild, gourmet vibe into our kitchens… and now yours.
Lion’s Mane is honestly one of nature’s coolest secrets. If it’s your first time, brace yourself for the texture; it’s nothing like those soft, slippery grocery store mushrooms. These are hearty and substantial, with a satisfying bite that folks often swear tastes just like lobster or crab (seriously, it’s a game-changer for seafood lovers going plant-based).
Being dried, these chunks are like your kitchen’s best-kept weapon: ultimate flavor absorbers. Rehydrate them, and they’ll soak up everything you throw at them a generous pat of garlic butter, a splash of white wine, or a rich savory broth. They’re perfect for anyone who loves tinkering in the kitchen and letting recipes evolve.
We call them functional mushrooms for a reason—they deliver big on taste and benefits. For centuries, people have turned to Lion’s Mane to support sharp thinking and mental clarity, thanks to compounds that may promote nerve growth and cognitive health. It’s that rare combo: food that hits your cravings hard while quietly boosting your focus. And unlike fresh mushrooms that wilt in the fridge too quickly, these dried chunks stay pantry-ready for impromptu stir-fries or elevated dinners.
Prep is super straightforward: Soak the chunks in warm water (or your favorite broth) for about 20 minutes until they’re plump and tender, then dive in.
Here on the farm, we’ve got some go-to favorites. Shred them for unbeatable vegan “crab” cakes, or batter and fry for crispy, golden bites that are downright addictive. They shine in slow-simmered stews, creamy pastas, or even tacos with a squeeze of lime.
We’re a small, passionate team at Smithereens Farm, focused on sustainable, ethical growing in our pristine mountain air. Every chunk you get is handled with real care—no shortcuts.
We’re thrilled to share a slice of our harvest with you. Can’t wait to hear what delicious creations you come up with!
